Paint Blot Characters
After pumping up to three different colors of paint into the center of their paper the sixth graders folded their page and squished the paint together to create a random “paint blot”. While the paint was drying the class discussed the art movements of Surrealism and Dadaism. Students determined the difference between assemblage, photo montage and collage. When the blots were dry they were studied to see what emerged. Students then used magazine collage to create a character that was doing something. After their collage was complete they wrote a story about their character.
